How your apps work.

Make an app from a sentence

Choose New app and say what you want to see, for example "a dashboard of this week's Stripe payments and new HubSpot deals". We pick panels from the services on the platform and give the app a title and a share link.

Today the choice of panels is rough: it can pick a panel that doesn't fit, or one that would change something. Look at what you made before you share it. Choosing only panels that read, and preferring the services you have connected, is the first thing being built.

Making an app uses credits from your Programmable account. You see the price before you confirm.

Open and share an app

Every app has a share link. Anyone who opens it signs in with their own Programmable account, and each panel runs on their account and shows their data. Your keys are never used for them.

The link opens here, in Programmable Apps. Panels that cost nothing run as soon as it opens; a panel that uses credits waits until the person opening it presses Run, and each panel says when it last ran. Conversation panels still open on programmable.you.

Shared with me lists the apps other people have shared with you by name.

What can change

A panel that reads shows its result. Today an app can pick a panel that doesn't fit, or one that would change something. A panel that would change something is never run when your link is opened: it says it isn't available. Check your app before you share it. A step that shows exactly what a panel or link would do, and waits for the person who opened it to press the button, is being built.

A sentence in a /new link only fills in the New app form: nothing is made until you press the button. A shared link takes no words at all yet. Words at the end of a link that fill in blanks an app declares are being built.

Being built

Picking only panels that read, asking before anything changes, apps from a web address, templates with blanks you fill in, editing panels, data tables, forms, pages, limiting a link to people you name, deleting a link, a limit on how often each link can run, and custom domains. What works on a link today is a password, a view limit, an earlier end date and pause. Things in the app that aren't ready say "Not working yet".

Your account

One Programmable account works across programmable.you, .run and .dev. Your connected services live there, so an app can use them without you pasting keys. Sign out and account deletion are under Settings.
